Topic Homework Friday 17th April 2015


Henry VIII is holding a banquet at Hampton Court Palace
 on Saturday, 1st February 1533. Why might he have been
 celebrating in 1533? Find out what it was like at Hampton
 Court Palace and design a leaflet to advertise the feast.

  1. What was te banquet about....

    The 1st February 1533 was special for Anne Boleyn and for Henry VIII because it was their engagement.

    This ceremony contains rich food such as:
    roasted pigs,
    spicy roast larks,
    salted saltwater fish,
    roasted cockatrice,
    whole roasted swans with cloves,
    eel pies with garlic puree.

    And the ceremony also contained drinks suck as:
    Beer,
    Mead,
    Spiced wine,
    Sherry,
    Cider.

  2. 1) What kind of food or entertainment might there had been?
    - The rich people held banquets are ate foods such as Swan, Peacock, deer and Pigs head. For entertainment they went to threatre and there was jesters, jugglers and fire eaters.

    2) Why might Henry VIII been celebrating in 1533?
    - I think he was celebrating in 1533 because his marriage Catherine of Aragon was cancelled.
