Homework - due by Friday 29th April 2016

Topic:

Henry Vlll was a great athlete in his youth. Henry threw the javelin and enjoyed hunting, archery, jousting and tennis. He spoke French, Spanish, Latin and some Italian. He was also good musician. Henry played the lute and harpsichord well and could sing from sight.
Do any of his hobbies apply to you? Are any of his hobbies similar to things that you enjoy doing? Would you have liked to have tried any of his hobbies? Why?
This is also a chance for you to write a bit about yourself and tell your classmates what hobbies / things you do, and how good you may be at them!

  2. I do not have any similar hobbies with Henry. Jousting is the sport that I would never learn because it is very DANGEROUS!!!!!!! I could have got killed! Learning how to throw a Javelin is fun but I never got a chance. I have played Tennis before but I don't find it that interesting. My three main hobbies are watching TV,playing basketball and reading books

  3. Henry VIII hobbies
Henry VIII enjoyed lots of things and I mainly like very different things. With that being said, Henry liked music and I like listening to music and making up my own songs. My favorite band is Little Mix. I have also recently started Athletics Club and enjoy throwing a foam javelin. On top of that, I am learning to speak French and practice when we go to France on holiday.

I would have loved to try archery all over again because I have only done it once and really enjoyed it. Henry loved eating and so do I. Henry wanted a boy though when I have children I am sure I will be happy with a girl or boy. Henry read a lot and so do I. My favourite author is Jacqueline Wilson.

  4. I enjoy tennis and I like singing. I can speak some French though. I play the trumpet, keyboard, recorder and clarinet so that is similar to him playing the lute and harpsichord. I would like to try to learn more languages because if I go to a different country I will be prepared and I want to try archery as well because it would be fun after watching and reading Robin Hood, Brave also makes me want to try archery.

  6. I use to do archery and I admit it is really fun. I do play tennis and it's cool but I wouldn't say it is a hobby. Jousting is kinda similar to fencing and riding a horse so yeah one of King Henry VII's hobby do relate to me.

I have to say that jousting looks pretty epic. Plus it would be kinda easy because I do know how to ride a horse and I am pretty sure I can knock someone off their horse.

My hobby is playing with Muffin (my neighbour's dog). Another hobby is Rugby because I go to a Contact Rugby club twice/three times a week.

  7. I am relatively good at singing (but I wouldn't consider it a hobby.)

I can play a Trombone, Clarinet, Recorder, a bit of Guitar, and the Drums. Some of these are similar to a lute and harpsichord.

Jousting involves horse riding, and I am confident I can knock someone off a horse!

My hobbies are drawing, playing football and cricket.

  10. I do archery on the weekends & holidays as it is my favourite hobby. I am a musician, but i'm not good at singing or play the lute;I play the Piano. I am also a free runner, meaning I practice parkour EVERYDAY; I run & jump with tricks all the way to school & back! I'm not too keen about jousting, but I am about rugby, ice hockey & athletics!

  11. I find that some of Henry's hobbies are not things that i would like to do. I'm not a big fan of tennis but I am a big fan of football. I like it so much that every other week I go to a home game at the mighty Brentford's Griffin Park. I don't want to put any animals in danger, I just don't see the point of it. If he is so rich then why cant he just buy the food? I also enjoy playing football. I go to training every Saturday morning. It helps me take my mind off of things and I enjoy it.

  12. I have never thrown the javelin, or hunted or jousted, but I can shoot targets with a toy gun and rubber bullets - in this way, it could be similar to archery. Moreover, I also love playing tennis, as well as table-tennis. I can speak French (mostly), and also my mother tongue - Bengali. I also play the guitar, which descends from the lute, and the keyboard/piano, which followed on from the harpsichord (an old-fashioned organ that sounded like a banjo). I also love singing.

I would have liked to have a go at archery, throwing the javelin and jousting. Also, I would have liked to learn a few more languages, especially Italian.

In terms of other hobbies, I practice martial arts and love writing, composing music and above all, I love reading all different genres of books - I’ve also begun to learn photography on my camera (my dad’s old DSLR).

  13. My hobbies are a bit similar to Henry VIII. He liked sports like me and I would like try out some of his hobbies (not hunting or jousting though)!!!. I like to play football and table tennis in my spare time although I would be trying to play any sport. Also I like learning new languages.

  14. Henry VIII's Hobbies

I have not tried most of Henry VIII's hobbies; however I think that I would like to try archery and throwing the javelin. I would never hunt - it is cruel to kill animals for fun - and jousting seems slightly odd. I have tried tennis a few times, but I would not say it is a hobby.

I can speak a little bit of French; I would also like to learn Latin or Spanish. I play the keyboard which is similar to the harpsichord and sometimes I listen to music.

I really love reading, stroking dogs, decorating my room for fun, cooking and making collages.

  16. I, myself have many different skills, I feel, and some are in relation to King Henry the Eighth. First of all, I can speak some French, forming a few sentences or even paragraphs. I also have modest knowledge of my home languages, Tamil and Kannada, which is helpful when I travel abroad to India and other countries.
Moreover, I also go to Martial-Arts classes and I am an assistant instructor as well as being a black belt red tag. During the class, many people come to me for help with their movement and technique.
I love playing cricket and tennis (which it seems King Henry likes and is good at as well) as well as table tennis. I play these sports only in the summer but I still consider this as a hobby. This is the same with archery. I visited the London 2012 archery games in Lords. That inspired me to play the sport.
I am also a Trinity keyboardist and used to have lessons every week. I also am passionate on singing and sing a lot. This might not be similar to Henry, however it still is music and King Henry did like music as well. I also have played the trombone for two years, having fair knowledge on it.
I also have hobbies in the digital world, coding on a programme called Scratch. I do this in my free time and it is enjoyable as well as educational.
I would really like to play jousting as it looks pretty nice and you get armour but it sounds dangerous. I don’t want to hunt as it means killing animals and that wouldn’t‎ be a very humane act.
